Cant find the review of the F-16 EDF in your video here on the discussion forum. So I will start one here. I want one, looks like it will be a blast to fly. Also tell us about the Turnigy Nano batteries, I have seen Turnigy packs puff up when used side by side with others , same size , same rating, used on the same model. :(

Yeah, I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't get a chance to create a forum entry for this review -- but you saved me the job! Well done :lol:

Hopefully the NanoTech batteries will be here next week so I'll do a comparison.

The SkyAngel is a blast to fly and apart from the short flight-times, is just brilliant.

I used a Nano battery today on my SIG Bristol Scout foamy. Brushed 180 geared motor, Sig SG20 ESC,Turnigy Nano 850 2S.
It worked fine, no scientific testing just seat of the pants flyin. :lol:

Can you tell me what the stock number is on this plane, Hobbyking has about a dozen or more F-16s.

reports from the Hobbyking site indicate that the factory motors burn out easily if used on full power for extended periods of time. I actually saw one of these going in Hamilton today and I have to aggree that they are rather impressive. I have a friend with a current "clamp" meter, I don't suppose you would have one handy to check just how much current the set up is pulling when static... 850mAh at 20C is only 17 amps max, and over drawing current on a lipo is never a good idea... I have to get a bigger lipo and speed controller to run my airboat, as the 1600 3s 20C pulls way over the 30 amps mark with an 8x3 prop... however it is not a problem when running on 8s Nimh in the same set up... with the volts being just that little bit higher on the lipo, it pushes the prop out of its efficiency range (not a problem with Gas, but certainly an issue with lipos). My calcs aren't all that good :ugeek: , but flattening an 850mah battery in 3 minutes has got to be way up there in the current draw range...

Cool review Bruce, those little planes are tough :D I fly with mates who have some of the 50mm J-power range of EDF's similar to the skyangel F16 size and most of em use 13-1500 3S and 4S and one of em even uses a 2200 3S :shock: YEEEP in a Sabre, with stock motor and fan and it still flies good! So I guess these things can take the extra weight :) Regarding batteries, I have a few 2200 4S 40C Nanotechs and they seem to come down a little cooler than my 2200 4S 30C batts and yes they're both being used within their C rating. Hard to say if it's because they're Nanos or because they're a slightly higher C rating :?: I did just receive a 40C Turnigy so I'll be able to do a fair comparison then.

These foam scale EDF jets, made in China, are so realistic that they give great satisfaction to fly. You need not spend thousands of dollars any more to enjoy jet planes.

I have a couple of scale EDF, F-16 and F9F, and like them a lot. Only complaint is they have limited battery space. Newer planes are now designed for larger battery space.

It is an iMax-branded FlySky 9X (like the Turnigy 9X).

This radio one is probably one of the first they ever made and is still going strong -- despite being dropped on several occasions and used heavily every weekend and often during the week.

It started out with the original V1 FlySky DSSS module, then I used the Corona module for a while before switching to FrSky.

In my experience, the combination of the 9X and the FrSky 2.4 has been solid as a rock and I use it in almost all my models now (although I also have a JR 9XII with FrSky 2.4 that I use for my jets and my gaser).
