Will Spektrum module work in a flysky 9x

Will a Spektrum JR module work in a flysky 9x based transmitter or will it require some modifications to make it work? It just seems since Flysky is re-versioning their 2.4 stuff to where nothing works together (Version A, B, 3...) and the new cheap clone DSM2 receivers and BNF planes, it might be a good time to look for other options...
