JR 9X ii board voltage regulators

Postby Roger » Wed Jan 26, 2011 10:13 am

Hi Bruce... I have two transmitters, as you know... A hitec Eclipse 7 and a JR 9X ii, I am wondering if I can change the board voltage regulators to some of the switch mode ones (like the ones from Dimension engineeing) so that I can get a better run time from the batteries that are installed in the transmitter. Changing to 2000Mah Eneloop battery packs has helped dramatically with 2-3 hours run time now (Yay!, way better than just on an hour with the old pack!) however since linear regulators are known to be terribly inefficient, I was wondering if you might be able to help out and have a look at modifying these components.

my guess is that this one http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW033.htm
would be ideal for powering transmitter boards, however I am not sure whether or not the transmitter modules also need to run a regulator... or how you would change those for one of the chinese 2.4 systems etc.
