Completely new to video links, But stumbled across this one for only $44.00 US and was wondering if this is usable, acceptable or just junk?

They are okay -- a CMOS camera so the color washes out a bit as the lighting changes but 50mW on 2.4GHz will give you a couple of hundred yards of good clean signal. The other option is the low-cost very light video setup that HobbyKing sells. The benefit of that is that the camera is uncased so it may be lighter.

The weight was 20g,
I figured once you deleted the base and that monster DC connector you could probably cut that in half.

But thanks, Your right the HK sounds better with CCD cam and 100 to 1500mW. Is 900Mhz the preferred Freq if allowed ?

900MHz should give you more range for a given power level -- but if you're looking at a very small/light installation, antenna size/weight will become a factor with the lower frequencies.

As soon as the Chinese New Year is done, I'll be doing some direct flight comparisons of 900, 2.4 and 5.8GHz systems by flying the FPV model over the exact-same course and comparing results at various ranges.
