Shocking earthquake scenes on the TV news here in the UK. Tragic loss of life and a shame that the cathedral was wrecked. Best wishes to all Kiwis affected, we're thinking of you.

Glad to hear your safe and sound Bruce!! We toured New Zealand, both North and South, for two weeks last year. Certainly is a beautiful country and loved the attitude and patriotism of the people we met. We left one week before the big quake in Christchurch. Our prayers are with those who are suffering.

Yep, you've nailed it -- although I'm at the other end of the runway -- where the hangars are.

I just went by the fact that you were near a full-scale runway and I put the pin on the numbers which are 13 and 31. That's a North/South ish runway. Is that the way your winds favor??? Here in Kentucky most of our winds come out of the West.....so our good runways are 27/90 ideally. Very seldom do we have any laying like yours. We would be doing a lot of "slip" landings. I was with a friend of mine in a J-3 Cub one day and we did one of those......I felt like my butt was going to slide out the door ! Weird feeling. The wind was really blowing through the window....which was also weird.
Now we all know where you really are. Some of the clues I obtained from your FPV You Tube videos.

The runway runs from NW/SE which are the prevailing winds during summer but in winter the prevailing wind in SW -- a direct cross-wind.

In fact, when the wind blows from the SW it is very, very turbulent because it passes over a row of trees and also a row of hangars. It's great fun!
