Would this (

Back on topic:
I think availability of compatible (not fake) 3. party products is good for the market. There are piles of examples of markets developing quicker when clones and/or 3. party products appear on the scene. Personally I would be more inclined to invest in a system where there are multiple suppliers. Even if I buy mostly or only products from the original manufacturer I gain:
- There are more people and shops around that is familiar with the system
- There is more incentive to create add-on services and products
- There is a larger second hand market if I want to buy or sell
- Competition regulates prices and drives innovation
- Lending or borrowing equipment is easier.
- The risk of my system becoming obsolete is less. If the original manufacturer decides to suspend production and/or support there are other suppliers ready to step in
Lack of standards is one of several reasons I have been hesitant to move to 2.4GHz. DSM2 is the closest thing to a standard so far. With multiple sources of DSM2 products we may get a de-facto standard.
On the other hand, if it is true that FASST compatible receivers are about to enter the market then that could be a big boost to the FASST system.
Of course, there are drawbacks too. Standards can stifle innovation also. A system that is better but incompatible will have a hard time penetrating the market.
I am looking forward to see the development.
