Traxxas Link transmitter working voltage

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Traxxas Link transmitter working voltage

Postby Tranworld » Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:16 am

Interestingly I noticed that my Traxxas TQ 2.4Ghz transmitter uses just 4xAA batteries. On the basis that most electronics will have to work at 5V (unless they have made everything at 3.3V), I opened the TX up to see and the only thing I see that closely resembled a voltage regulator has a 5 pin casing, 3 on one side and 2 on the other, it has 3J N27 printed on it, the PCB has VR1 at that position. Does anyone know this type of regulator? Does it regulate down to 3.3V or 5V?
