DX is an interesting business model -- they don't actually stock most of what they sell. They effectively accept your order and then order from the supplier.

Because they don't have the overhead of carrying stock they can offer really low prices -- but the downside is that for some (mainly less popular) items, there can be longer delays in shipping.

ive bought from both dealextreme an goodluckbuy.com

cnc controler , 24volt 10 amp powesupply from goodluckbuy ,, seem to be working fine
many many gadgets from dealextreme , gps . wii parts , iphone parts , rc parts all in good working order

pretty much all my stocking stuffers i give out for christmas come from either them too, lol

Last order slow again, a week to ship, three and a half weeks 'airmail', still not here.

When did they decide to ship by zeppelin?

Your order must have been on the one that crashed 50yrs ago. I was thinking mine was too, but it turned up on the beach one morning when I was out fishing. Gee it looked like an old bottle it was in too

Rather fortunately the trade winds favoured the latest order and the tall ship was here in 3 weeks. Prices are good, products so far are good value, but the delivery is a tad slow ~ considering it's free, I can live with that.
However fairly hot on the heels of the last order was a "Request to confirm delivery" that appears to be a thinly disguised phishing attempt. There are numerous links in the e-mail that are not DealExtreme; "Bizrate" and "shopzilla" feature.

I don't know if someone there is selling addresses, if they have a "partnership" with dodgy dorks, they've been hacked, or if I just got unlucky. Whatever, a bit of cation seems in order.

I have placed over 20 orders to DX, so far I have received one wrong item, and one faulty item.

The wrong item was quite understandable, the correct item number was, lets say "10023", and the item I got was "10032".
The faulty item was a Mystery 900mAh LiPo, when plugged to my charger, the charger would blink "Battery Error"

Wrong item I didn't even report, it was more expensive and actually something I had use for :)

The faulty Lipo was fixed with a 30sec video from my phone of the charger blinking battery error and another battery working, and a simple
"Does not accept charge; charger indicates broken battery.
The second mystery battery works fine."

I sent the claim at "4/27/2010 5:24:02 AM HKT (UTC+8)", and at "4/27/2010 2:33:59 PM HKT (UTC+8)" I got this:
Dear John,
A free replacement unit07621 has been processed for you and you will receive a notification email once we get it shipped. For the defective unit, please keep it and try to find a use to it.

You can track the replacement using your existing order number.

New battery arrived, free of charge, and no unneeded fuzz.

It does take at least two weeks for the shipment to come from China to Finland, but hey, its free, can't complain.

And my customer rep is said to be pretty cute ;D
