The eePe thread.

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Funny how the easiest way is not always the obvious isn't it...? Glad I fitted it in a new Tx... I would not have been happy to take it out and then have to replace it again... I re-flashed the old 9x as well today... I stuck the mounting posts to the bottom of the board... To fiddlely to keep lining them up each time...

So you take the smartieboard out every time, Keith? I didn't want to open the radio too often. I already buggered some screws. I thought of just getting another smartieboard. Unless those ER9X updates are not comming around too often.

Oops, not much point in getting another board when you can use that one for as many Tx as you like... If you are happy with the currant version there is no need to upgrade everytime... I just swap the backs over with the board and leave the USB where it is....

What is the "official" ER9X website and what is the latest and greatest ER9X version? Hopefully it is raining tomorrow morning so I have to play inside and do the smartieboard implant.

eePe website
http://code.google.com/p/eepe/

er9z website
http://code.google.com/p/er9x/

Once you download eePe and run it, it will automatically check for updates to both eePe and er9x.
What goes up...better bloody stay up (until I say otherwise).

It will tell you there is an update... It's not the most stable though, it's the latest (beta)... While I'm learning the less bells and whistles the better...

Yeah, you gotta read the list of requests, bugs and responses to them to see if you want to try it.

Seeing it's been so quiet around here......

I've broken down and installed XP into Virtualbox on my Linux system. I gave up trying to compile eepe for Linux (too many missing dependencies I couldn't resolve on my own) so I installed Virtualbox and then loaded my old copy of XP into it. I'm happy to say it works a treat and I can now run eepe in a window without having to shut down linux AND it appears to talk to my 9x radio just fine. I was a bit concerned about timing issues as XP talks to VB which then talks to Linux which then shoves the stuff in and out the USB port. I have run into other hardware that would not work properly in a Vbox session but eepe handles it fine.

Over on RCgroups the prototype replacement main board has arrived and hopefully work will begin on it soon, both assembly and software porting. It's a very interesting, if somewhat expensive mod for the 9x radio but it sure does bring lots of improvements if it turns out to work.

A link to a picture of the just arrived board: http://goo.gl/kHRSZ

and a link to the main features of this board: http://goo.gl/qFPBa

Apparently the board will support this transflective replacement LCD which would also be a welcome addition: http://goo.gl/cpkUd

And this is the reason why it was chosen: http://goo.gl/MPCTI

If you wish to know more, I suggest reading the thread yourself.... it's now some 730+ pages long.....<sigh>

Glad you managed to get eePe working via the dreaded Windoze on a Linux machine.

Any idea on the price for the new 9x mainboard yet? Sorry, but I don't want to wade through so many RCGroups posts if I can avoid it.
