Converting Futaba FP-T4H 27mHz Transmitter to 2.4GhZ

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Converting Futaba FP-T4H 27mHz Transmitter to 2.4GhZ

Dear Guys

Could anybody advice me on how to convert FP-T4H 27mHz Futaba Transmitter to 2.4GHz. I have converted other stuff like Futaba Conquest, Futaba T6EXAP to Assan Hack module X8D quite succesfully, but I am stumped here as I am not able to locate the PPM signal. This is a 4 Channel system.

Awaiting help eagerly. There must be some bloke who would have done this I am sure.

Thanx in advance

Guys
This one does not have a trainer port. It is one of those old old ones... May be it is a PCM based system. I am not able to get any info on this. If it is PCM, I would like to have help in converting this to PPM.

Thanx

It's unlikely to be pcm.You need to find the big IC on the main circuitboard and see what numbers are on it.If it's a 5044,ppm will be on pin 10 or11.

I looked, and if it is this radio: manuals.hobbico.com/fut/t4-t5-manual.pdf (edit: this radio was made before Futaba even had coherent, spell-checked manuals)

you are much better off buying a Hobby King brand four or six channel radio with loads of mods online: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=967207

UNLESS you are doing this because you like the vintage look and you are an electronics hobbyist, in which case the other guides should cover it.

Is it possible to built the ppm signal in... meaning I use the pots and the mechanical systems, but change the heart to a ppm encoder of my own and connect to the ASSAN X8D hack. DO you know of any good simple ppm encoder which can be built ?

Signetics NE5044 if you can find it is the one chip solution

Otherwise hunt around with google, there were a couple of PPM projects for microcontrollers
