Bruce, any plan to open up the radios/modules and tell us readers which RF chipset is being used? And perhaps, any amplifiers in use too?

Well, he didn't proof read it,
opposing statements on range,
referring to DSM2 as static even though it uses more than one frequency,
not reality checking the math

sin(x/x) would be sin(1) or a constant 0.8415
sin(x)/x is a small number

edit: I think he is refering to Pseudo Noise transmission, see data sheet, single chip output to 4dBm, internal LNA on the receiver side.

I would hazard to guess it's the same chipset (or the next generation) with a new algorithm programmed in to the MPU/CPLD/FPGA since it is downward compatible

edit: google and two minutes: CYRF6936 transceiver
http://www.cypress.com/?rID=14284

The CYRF6936 WirelessUSB™ LP radio is a second generation member of the Cypress WirelessUSB Radio System-On-Chip (SoC) family. The CYRF6936 is interoperable with the first generation CYWUSB69xx devices. The CYRF6936 IC adds a range of enhanced features, including increased operating voltage range, reduced supply current in all operating modes, higher data rate options, reduced crystal start up, synthesizer settling, and link turnaround times.

This is my first post on this forum, though I've been following it and the main RCMR site occasionally for a while. I'm an active member of the big RC forum most of you are probably familiar with and you may know me from there.

Anyway, just wanted to comment that the terms FHSS and DSSS seem to be tossed around rather loosely in the article and here. Futaba's FASST system was listed as being a FHSS system when in reality it (like DSMX) is a "hopping" DSSS transmission. (Feel free to look up any of the FASST transmitter FCC IDs.) Each FASST DSSS transmission is actually spread about twice as wide (in frequency range) as each DSM, DSM2, and presumably DSMX (since it apparently uses the same channel allotments of the available band as DSM and DSM2) DSSS transmission.

Some of you are most likely aware of these terminology discrepancies and just use the terms FHSS and DSSS out of convenience, but I think this adds to the confusion and misinformation those that don't know better have.

I wish Horizon/Spektrum had been a little more "up front" about the issues surrounding the AR500 receiver.

I'm not sure things have improved with the AR600.

We had two more lockouts. http://www.thebuildingboard.com/2012/10 ... -line.html
