What size servo for a Extra 260 50cc 2.2m

I'm building a Extra 260 50cc to electric conversion. It has a wing span of 2.2 mtr (86 inches) and will weigh in at 8kgs. What size servo should I be using. Does the rudder servo need to be larger as well.

It depends a little on the type of flying you intend to do.

If it's sport/pattern flying then you'll be able to get by with lower-power servos than if you want to do 3D.

I'd go for something in the range of 10Kg/cm of torque, definitely metal geared and might as well be digital.

I'm reviewing a bunch of servos in that ballpark at the moment with results due up soon.

i am using the HX12K servos all around on my 50cc size wagstaff extra i converted to electric. I fly the snot out of it and they are working flawlessly. They work best on 6V, an require a large BEC (i am using a 8-Amp bec)

Also u probably already know this, but the rudder should use a pull-pull setup... with a regular linkage, when it pushes, the force if the pushrod combined with the drag of the rudder surface will want to tear it off (especially with a large counterbalanced rudder). My rudder is coming loose at the hinges, so i will invariably have to go with a pull-pull setup sooner than later.

Hope your project goes well!
